Since 2002, the Poultney Downtown Revitalization Committee (PDRC) has worked alongside residents, businesses, and partners to strengthen the heart of Poultney.
This timeline highlights key milestones in our journey — from major infrastructure improvements to historic preservation projects, community celebrations, and new initiatives to ensure a vibrant, welcoming downtown.

In 2002, Poultney residents worked with the Vermont Council on Rural Development to set community priorities, focusing on youth programs, economic development, and downtown revitalization. The PDRC joined the town in celebrating its 250th anniversary with events including a time capsule burial, tree dedication, historical showcases, and a large July 4th parade.

Installation of new benches along Main Street and the creation of a rain garden at Poultney High School improved downtown aesthetics and environmental sustainability.

The PDRC implemented pedestrian safety signage, installed bike racks, and added trash receptacles to promote a more walkable and bike-friendly downtown.

In collaboration with Green Mountain College, the PDRC initiated Poultney 2020, a strategic planning effort to revitalize community spirit and set in motion several high-priority projects identified by residents.

New banners were designed and installed to showcase year-round events and enhance the visual appeal of Main Street.

Poultney received a grant from the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable to develop redevelopment scenarios and architectural renderings for a new outdoor recreation hub on the Town Garage property, advancing the Town to Trails objectives.
